A visit to the Iulia Hașdeu Castle (Câmpina, Romania) - spiritism, mediumship

Updated: Aug 16, 2023

Since I started practising mediumship, I have been studying various modalities/practices/doctrines meant to proof the survival of spirits after the death of their physical body. One of them is Spiritism.

I have always wanted to visit the Iulia Hașdeu Castle (Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu Memorial Museum).

The Iulia Hașdeu Castle is a folly built in the form of small castle by her father, historian and politician Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu in the city of Câmpina, Romania when she died aged 19 and Hașdeu claimed that she gave him the building plans during spiritism sessions.

In its centre, the castle has a temple with the statue of Jesus (sculpted by Raphael Casciani), a naos and pronaos, and an altar.

The tower symbolises the union between Spirit and Matter, Sky and Earth. The whole construction symbolises the Holy Chalice.

„Room with a Path”, dedicated to Iulia, which contains objects that belonged to her.

Iulia's doll (with porcelain head), gifted by the scientist to a little girl (Aurelia Cionca) that visited the castle and played the piano. Later on, she became an excellent pianist.

„All women have a ray of poetry in their soul, but that ray is often enveloped by clouds and sometimes their heart must be slayed in order to ignite the spark dormant within”.
